FAQ

Does the Shelter have a waiting list?

Yes, it has three waiting lists. The first is for people who are looking for a specific request. The second and third are for people who want to surrender their cat or dog, but the shelter is full.

How do I surrender my cat or dog?

If you need to surrender your cat or dog, please call us to make arrangements to do so. We will make every effort to get the animal in as soon as possible, but occasionally we are full and ask that you be patient. We are also more than willing to help counsel you through any behavioral issue in order for you to keep your pet if at all possible.

Is there a charge to surrender an animal to the Shelter of Hope?

Yes, there is a fee which is determined on an individual basis.

What hours is the Shelter of Hope open?

The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00AM until 5PM. On Saturdays we are open from 10AM until 4PM. If you can't make it during our normal hours of operation, please call us at 315-536-6094 for an appointment.

What kinds of things does a volunteer do?

There are volunteer opportunities available for all ages, physical conditions, and interests. Volunteers can do anything from simply playing with the animals to better socialize them, to cleaning cages, to walking dogs, to grooming, to doing laundry, to helping with fund raising, to manning the desk, to doing lawn work, to just about anything you can think of! Please check out our Volunteer page.

Does the Shelter of Hope offer tours?
